Terms of Service
Effective date: June 11, 2026 · Last updated: June 18, 2026 — Version 2026-06-18 (rev. 1)
1. Who we are and what this is
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you (“you”) and Working Inland LLC, a Colorado limited liability company located at 1500 N Grant St, Ste N, Denver, CO 80203 (“Working Inland,” “we,” “us”). They govern your use of the Working Inland website, application, and related services (together, the “Service”).
By creating an account, taking the quiz, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
We have used plain language to make these Terms easy to understand, but where a plain sentence and a formal legal one differ, the formal legal meaning controls our agreement.
2. What Working Inland is — and what it isn't
Working Inland is a personal-growth tool. It guides you through structured inner work, one pattern at a time, with a bounded AI guide.
It is not therapy, counseling, medical or mental-health treatment, or a diagnosis of any condition, and it is not a crisis or emergency service. It is designed to sit alongside professional support — a therapist, a physician, a faith, a community — never to replace it. Nothing in the Service is professional advice of any kind — medical, psychological, legal, or financial — and you should not treat it as such or delay seeking professional care because of it.
If you are in crisis or anyone's safety is at risk, the Service is not the right tool. In the U.S., call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911 for an emergency; elsewhere, contact your local emergency number. Our crisis resources are always available at /crisis.
3. Eligibility
You must be 18 or older and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. The Service is not directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements.
4. The free quiz and report
You can take a short quiz without an account. We don't store your individual quiz answers; the quiz produces a result and is then discarded. To receive your written report we ask for your email address, which we keep to deliver the report and communicate with you about the Service (see our Privacy Policy).
The quiz and report are informational and reflective only — not a clinical assessment, test, or diagnosis. They're a starting point for the work, nothing more.
5. Your account
To do the work you create an account using your email address. You're responsible for keeping access to that inbox and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information, keep it current, and let us know if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. Accounts are for your own personal use and aren't to be shared.
Your account is personal to you. The account and the rights in it are personal and non-transferable, and they end on your death. Because what you write here is private and sensitive, on death or legal incapacity we will, on verified request and to the extent the law allows, close the account and delete its contents rather than disclose your inner work — unless a court or law requires otherwise. If you want a copy preserved for anyone, export it while your account is active (Section 10). This sets your direction for access to your digital assets under applicable Colorado law.
6. Your writing is yours
You own what you write in Working Inland. We claim no ownership of it.
You grant us only the limited license we need to operate the Service for you — to store, process, display, and back up your content so the Service works and your work is there when you return, and to let our bounded AI guide respond to what you write. That's the whole purpose of the license. We do not sell your content, and we do not sublicense, transfer, publish, or use your personal writing for any purpose unrelated to providing the Service to you. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups that age out on our ordinary schedule and anything we must retain by law.
You can export your writing free, on any plan, at any time, and you can delete it — see Section 10.
Feedback is different from your personal work. If you send us suggestions, ideas, or feature requests, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use them to improve the Service, with no obligation to you. Please don't include personal or sensitive details in feedback.
7. The AI guide
The guide within the Service is artificial intelligence, not a person and not a therapist. It reads what you write, reflects it back, asks questions, and holds the structure of the work. It is deliberately bounded — it stays within the work rather than acting as an open-ended chatbot. It can be wrong, and it is not a substitute for professional judgment. How your inputs are processed is described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Plans, billing, and cancellation
Pricing. Working Inland is one subscription, offered with a choice of billing period — monthly, quarterly, or annual. The only things that differ between them are the length of the billing period and the price; every term below applies the same to all three. Current plans and prices are shown at checkout and summarized at /pricing. We process payments through a third-party processor (Stripe); we don't store your full card details.
Automatic renewal. Every plan renews automatically on the same terms. Whichever billing period you choose, the plan renews — and the next period is charged — at the end of that period, until you cancel. Before you subscribe, we show you that the plan auto-renews, how often, and the amount, and you confirm it; after you pay, we email you a confirmation that repeats the terms and how to cancel. Before each annual renewal, we email you a reminder 25 to 40 days in advance. For shorter terms (monthly or quarterly), we email you a reminder 25 to 40 days before the renewal that extends your subscription past a one-year anniversary — your first year, and once a year for every year after. Every reminder includes plain instructions on how to cancel. There are no surprise charges.
One-step cancellation. You can cancel anytime through a direct, one-step online cancellation in your account settings — no phone calls, no retention maze, and the same on every plan. If we ever show you a retention offer or discount when you go to cancel, we'll always display a prominent, direct cancellation link right next to it, so your choice is immediate and unobstructed. Canceling stops the next renewal; you keep access through the end of the period you've already paid for, and nothing is charged after that. Except where required by law or as stated in our Subscription & Refund Policy, paid amounts are non-refundable.
Failed payments. If a charge fails, we may retry a reasonable number of times and will let you know; if it can't be resolved, access may pause until it is.
Taxes. Prices may not include applicable taxes, which are your responsibility where they apply.
Full billing details are in our Subscription & Refund Policy (https://workinginland.com/legal/refund), which is part of these Terms.
9. Acceptable use
Use the Service lawfully and for your own personal growth. Don't: use it for anyone else or resell access; attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt it; misuse the AI guide to generate harmful content; or infringe our or anyone's rights. We may suspend or end access for material or unlawful misuse (Section 11).
10. Exporting and deleting your data
Your writing exports free, on any plan, anytime. You can delete your account and content from settings; deletion is permanent (so export first if you want a copy) and removes your content from our active systems, subject to backups that age out and anything we must keep by law. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
11. Suspension and termination
By you: cancel anytime (Section 8); you may close your account whenever you like.
By us: we may suspend or end access if you materially breach these Terms or use the Service unlawfully. Except in urgent cases (for example, conduct that creates legal or security risk), we'll give you notice and, where it makes sense, a chance to fix the problem first. If we end your access for our convenience rather than your breach, we'll give you a reasonable window to export your writing.
12. Our intellectual property
The Service — its method, content, software, design, text, and marks — belongs to Working Inland (or our licensors). We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own personal growth while your account is active. You may not copy, republish, resell, redistribute, or create derivative works from our materials without written permission. This does not affect your ownership of your own writing (Section 6).
13. Changes to the Service and to these Terms
We may improve, change, or discontinue parts of the Service over time. If we make material changes to these Terms, we'll give you notice — by email or in the app — with a reasonable chance to review them before they take effect. We won't change them silently. The current version will always be posted at https://workinginland.com/legal/terms with its effective date. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, that's your acceptance; if you don't agree, you can cancel.
14. Disclaimers
We want Working Inland to be a meaningful tool, but there are some things we cannot promise. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.”
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WORKING INLAND DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the work will produce any specific personal outcome. As stated in Section 2, the Service is not medical, therapeutic, or crisis care, and you use it understanding that.
15. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WORKING INLAND WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS OR DATA. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).
Some limitations may not apply where the law doesn't allow them.
16. Indemnification
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Working Inland and its members, officers, and agents from third-party claims, damages, or legal costs arising out of your material misuse of the Service, your intentional violation of these Terms, or your violation of applicable law, except to the extent directly caused by our own negligence or willful misconduct.
17. Dispute resolution, class-action waiver, and governing law
Governing law. These Terms and any dispute between us are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Talk to us first. Most issues resolve quickly. If you have a problem, contact us at support@workinginland.com and give us 30 days to make it right before starting any formal proceeding.
Where claims are brought. If we can't resolve it informally, any lawsuit must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Denver, Colorado, and you and Working Inland both consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Either party may instead bring a qualifying claim in small-claims court.
Class-action waiver. You and Working Inland agree that any dispute will be resolved on an individual basis only. Neither of us will seek to have any dispute heard as a class action, collective action, private attorney-general action, or any other representative proceeding.
Severability of this section. If the class-action waiver above is found unenforceable, that provision alone will be severed and the remainder of this Section 17 will stay in effect.
18. Privacy and sensitive data
How we handle your information is described in our Privacy Policy (https://workinginland.com/legal/privacy), which is part of these Terms. Because Working Inland is an AI-guided personal-growth tool, the text you write may contain sensitive personal reflections. We do not use your data for targeted advertising and we do not sell your writing. We process your inputs and use automated AI reflection solely to provide the Service to you. Creating an account means you accept these Terms and have read our Privacy Policy. Your consent for our AI to process your writing is a separate, explicit, opt-in step taken during onboarding — it is not bundled into your acceptance of these Terms — and you can withdraw it at any time.
19. Miscellaneous
These Terms (with the Privacy Policy and Subscription & Refund Policy) are the entire agreement between us. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you. We're not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. We may send you notices by email or in-app, and you consent to electronic communications. These Terms are in English.
